STEDENTS AND FACELTN AT RECEPTiON
On Saturday, September 22,
at 8:00 p.m. the three major
organizations on the campus
entertained the students and
faculty at a formal reception in
the blue parlor, honoring the
new freshmen and transfers.
Guests were greeted by Arlene
Foster, college marshal, and pre
sented to the receiving line
which was made up of Nancy
Harris, president of the Student
Government Association; Dr.
Carlyle Campbell, president of
Meredith College; Elizabeth
Shelton, president of the Baptist
Student Union; Dr. J. E. Burke,
new dean of Meredith; Mrs.
Burke; Mary G. Turner, presi-

ticipated in an orientation program to provide them with infor
mation and training.

Nancy Harris, President of the

tion, had all new students as
semble in the Auditorium where
various campus leaders were
introduced. Student Govern
ment training classes were held
each evening by Council Mem
bers.
On September 19, registration
for classes began and was com
pleted the following afternoon.
The weeks’ entertainment in
cluded an informal gathering in
the Hut, informal meeting with
Counsellors and Advisers, B.S.U.
party, and the Phi Bonfire.
