Carolina Baptist Student Union
held its “Spring Retreat” at the

with Dewey Hobbs, the presi

allow new members to get ac

each officer, and to plan for the
work of the next college year.
Friday evening’s program was
begun with a “pick-up supper”
and a party led by our own Fran
Thompson, the Social Vice Presi
dent for 1946-47, whose successor
for 1947-1948 is a newcomer to
our campus, Louvene Jordon.
Following the supper, a “sing-

Executive Council meeting,
given by the Meredith College

Group conferences, held at

talks on “The Function of
B.S.U.” were held. One of these
talks, entitled “What B.S.U.
Means to My Campus,” was led
by Miss Billie Ruth Currin.

“Spring Retreat,” the installa
tion of State officers took place;

Among the many colleges
and universites represented at
this meeting were State, Wake

EXAMINATION SCHEDULE
The annual spring production
of the Meredith Little Theatre,
A Romantic Young Lady, will be
presented in the college audito
rium Saturday night, May 10, at
8:00 p.m.
A Romantic Young Lady is a
light comedy written by G. Mar-
tinez-Sierra and translated from
the Spanish by Helen and Har
ley Granville-Baker. It deals
with the romantic attempts of a
young novelist, de Cordoba, to
ward Rosario, the ingenue, who
apparently spurns his efforts;
but, in reality, she appreciates
them to a great extent.
Sally Lou Taylor takes the
part of Rosario; Bob Butchart,
State College, plays opposite her
as the novelist who comes upon
the scene in a rather surprising
manner. Dona Barharita, the
dornineering grandmother with
decided ideas of her own, is por
trayed by Mitchell Lee. Other
characters include Maria Pepa,
Christine Williamson, who is the
companion to the Dona and a
maid who looks after the affairs
of the entire family. Irene, Mar
jorie King, is Senor de Cordoba’s
secretary; while, Gaillermo,
Ralph Bullock of State, is his
handy-man, helping him witli hiS*
novels and anything else that
comes up. Amalia, Gazelle
Moore, is a dancer and friend of
Cordoba. Pepe, Jim Streeter, of
Raleigh Cathedral High School;
Mario, Bob Friedman, and Em
ilio, John Faulk, of State, take
the parts of Rosario’s three
brother. Don Juan, who likes
the Senor, is played by Louis
Lowder of State College.
The play is directed by Miss
Catherine Hilderman. The pro
duction staff includes Evelyn
Straughan, the stage manager,
and her assistant, Dorothy How
erton. The scene technician is
Christine Bordeaux; the electri
cian, Dorothy Beland; the cos
