Meredith Places Third In Play Day A Play Day was held at Salem College in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, on Saturday, February 21st, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. The activity of the day was a round-robin series of basketball games which included the fol lowing six colleges; Salem, Mars Hill, Guilford, Greensboro, Meredith, and Women’s College. Meredith College placed third of the six by winning two, los ing two, and tying one game. Those winning first and second place honors, respectively, were Mars Hill and Women’s College. Defeating Greensboro and Guilford, Meredith was in turn defeated by both Mars Hill and Salem College, and tied by Women’s College. Those playing the forward positions for Meredith College were Eunice Andrews, Betty Jean Shuler, Faye Nichols, Na omi Pugh, and Catherine Car penter, while the guards were the classes at Ann Arbor were. In a place where there are over twenty thousand students, one feels so insignificant, says Mar tha; but you certainly learn to look out for yourself! Yet in spite of the bigness of the place, Martha is able to hold *her own; except now and then. On Feb. 23 Mr. Kelly, assis tant director of the Division of Conservation of North Carolina, spoke to the social problems class on the subject of conserv ation of our natural resources.
