Joint Meeting
At a joint meeting of the
^ociology and Freeman Religion
• night, January 14,
in Phi Hall, Dr. W. F. Stine-
^I'lng, professor of semetics at
Duke University, reviewed the
background and present situa-
what we commonly term
the “Palestinian problem.” Ac
cording to Dr. Stinespring, of
course, there is no Palestinian
problem—there is no Palestine
but, for the sake of conven
ience, we continue to use the
term.
Dr. Stinespring was a member
of the committee to investigate
and report with recommenda
tions on the Palestinian situation
to the United Nations prior to
recent settlements made. He
and his committee’s recommen
dations were not accepted.

MEREDITH PSYCHOLOGY STUDENTS
HELP IN DIX HILL THERAPY WORK
Dad criticized the sermon
mother thought the organist
made a lot of mistakes, and
sister didn’t like the choir’s
singing, but they all shut up
when Willie piped up: “Still it
was a pretty good show for a
nickle.”
—The Sherman Tattler.
Several Meredith College
students from Dr. Dorothy G.
Park’s psychology classes have
been receiving practical training
in psychology fieldwork this
semester through their volunteer
work in the department of oc
cupational therapy at the State
Mental Hospital in Raleigh.
Shirley Powell, Betty Hefner,
and Betty Jean Johnson, have
been teaching finger-painting to
some of the patients. Florence
Moore has assisted in other
phases of art work, while Polly-
anna Langston and Martha
Hooks lent their services in
directing bridge-playing. Others
of Dr. Park’s psychology majors
plan to help in the department of
recreation at Dix Hill during the
spring semester at Meredith.
Through their field work. Dr.
Park says, students have an op-
porunity to put into practice
some of the psychological princi
ples they have learned and at the
same time to feel that they are
being of real service to others.
These and other psychology
majors and the entire class in
abnormal psychology under Dr.
Park, head of the department of
psychology and philosophy at
Meredith, joined sociology
classes under Miss Leslie Syron
of Meredith and students of Dr.
Daniel Moffie, head of the de
partment of psychology at N. C.
State College, for a demonstra
tion clinic at Dix Hill Monday
afternoon, January 17.
Dr. Donald Carter, clinical
psychologist at the State Hospi
tal, with the assistance of Mrs.
R. L. McMillan, Jr., and Miss Lib
Taylor, social workers at the
hospital, explained to the
students the most common
psychosis and presented il
lustrative cases. After the clinic.
Dr. Carter took the Meredith
students on a tour of the hospital
and explained the use of electric
shock and insulin therapy in
mental cases.

Dear Pop:
Everything is fine at school.
I’m getting lots of sleep and am
studying hard. Incidently, I’m
enclosing my fraternity bill.

THIS COLLEGIATE WORLD
A geology prof was speaking
to a group of weary students as
they plodded along a danger
ously narrow path in the Lake
Austin area.
“Be careful here, he warned.
“It’s dangerous. But if you fall,
remember to look to the left. You
get a wonderful view.”

HOW TRUE
We know
It unwise
To criticize
Our fellow-man.
Before becoming
Overbold,
Remember, Sir,
We all came
From the same
Mold.
Nevertheless,
In spite of mothers,
Some are mouldier
Than others.
