Stine- ^I'lng, professor of semetics at Duke University, reviewed the background and present situa- what we commonly term the “Palestinian problem.” Ac cording to Dr. Stinespring, of course, there is no Palestinian problem—there is no Palestine but, for the sake of conven ience, we continue to use the term. Dr. Stinespring was a member of the committee to investigate and report with recommenda tions on the Palestinian situation to the United Nations prior to recent settlements made. He and his committee’s recommen dations were not accepted. We think that a lot of live- wires would be dead ones if it weren’t for their connections. —The Iowa State Daily. Several Meredith College students from Dr. Dorothy G. Park’s psychology classes have been receiving practical training in psychology fieldwork this semester through their volunteer work in the department of oc cupational therapy at the State Mental Hospital in Raleigh. Shirley Powell, Betty Hefner, and Betty Jean Johnson, have been teaching finger-painting to some of the patients. Florence Moore has assisted in other phases of art work, while Polly- anna Langston and Martha Hooks lent their services in directing bridge-playing. Others of Dr. Park’s psychology majors plan to help in the department of recreation at Dix Hill during the spring semester at Meredith. Through their field work. Dr. Park says, students have an op- porunity to put into practice some of the psychological princi ples they have learned and at the same time to feel that they are being of real service to others. These and other psychology majors and the entire class in abnormal psychology under Dr. Park, head of the department of psychology and philosophy at Meredith, joined sociology classes under Miss Leslie Syron of Meredith and students of Dr. Daniel Moffie, head of the de partment of psychology at N. C. State College, for a demonstra tion clinic at Dix Hill Monday afternoon, January 17. Dr. Donald Carter, clinical psychologist at the State Hospi tal, with the assistance of Mrs. R. L. McMillan, Jr., and Miss Lib Taylor, social workers at the hospital, explained to the students the most common psychosis and presented il lustrative cases. After the clinic. Dr. Carter took the Meredith students on a tour of the hospital and explained the use of electric shock and insulin therapy in mental cases. TWO PROFESSORS (Continued from Page One) mas holidays.
