Meredith Girls Are Provided With ID Cards The idea for student identifica tion cards began last January, fol lowing the death of a Meredith stu dent in an automobile accident. It seems the college was not notified until hours later because nobody at the scene of the accident knew where she attended school. Growing out of the suggestion from Mrs. Preston, a member of the Faculty Committee, that Meredith should provide some kind of identification card for every student, Donna Dull volunteered from the Legislative Board to take responsibility for the project. She and Mr. Olmsted designed the card last spring, but the problem of finances and the summer vacation slowed down progress. Donna’s fre quent visits to the Business Office, however, and a further conference with Dr. Silver have resulted in the reality of identification cards for all Meredith students. It is hoped that they will not have to be used in case of emergency, but rather as a source of information (college and home telephone numbers in addition to home address) as well as an official means of identification.
