C. Representatives from the Mere dith Art Club are planning a trip to Washington, D. C., to view their favorite subject, art. The students will be leaving early on November 3 for three days of studying and examining the works of masters. Although they will be on their own to tour the galleries of their choice, the suggested ones include the National Art Gallery, Phillips Museum, and the Museum of Mod ern Art. The girls added that they will have a little time for sight seeing, though they will spend most of their hours at the museums. Among those students making the trip, accompanied by Mr. Robinson, are Putty Carraway, Donna Cooper, Jeanne Donaldson, Delores Little, Clara Mincy, Ginny Sutton, Mary Charles Wheless, Mary Ann Whitty, and Barbara Jean Williams. For many seniors, this question can be answered with “Right nowl” as they begin their practice teaching in the R^eigh and Wake County schools. The student teachers have been observing their respective classrooms before they begin the actual teach* ing on November 9. Mr. Richard possesses the sort of constructive attitude that Britain seems to be moving toward; his ap pearance on campus may prove to have been prophetic. AROUND CAMPUS HISTORY MEETING HELD Wake Forest University was the scene of the October 20 meeting of the Historical Society of North Caro lina. Dr. Sarah Lemmon and Dr. T. C. Parramore represented Mere dith College. HELP WANTED! Anyone having an idea or sug* gestion for a motif for Religious Emphasis Week expressive of the theme, “A Taste of New Wine,” should contact Mr. Grove Robinson of the art department. This year, poster design and the mailing piece will be entirely student work. MCA PLANS ACTIVITIES The Meredith Christian Associa tion has recently received a check for $500 for services rendered at the North Carolina State Fair. A committee has been formed to con sider possible uses for the money. Also, the MCA Council has voted to join a North Carolina State Uni versity group, “Direct Action for Racial Equality,” to help financially- deprived Mississippi farmers. ARTISTS PLAN (Cootiaued from page 1) to contribute.. The works of these various artists will be on display from 5:00 p.m. Sunday, November 26, through Saturday, December 6. Included in the exhibition will be the works of the Meredith art de partment faculty. Among the wide variety of art types which will be for sale are water-colors, pastels, coUagcs, polmers, oil paintings, and perhaps a few sculptures. PROFESSORS ATTEND MEETING Dr. Mary Lynch Johnson and Dr. lone Kem]} Knight attended a sec tional meeting of the College English Association at North Carolina Wes leyan College, Rocky Mount, on October 28. CONFERENCE HELD Mrs. Helena Allen, Susan Hauser,, and Lynn Dodge attended the North Carolina Athletic and Recreation: Federation of College Woman in. at Atlantic Christian College in Wil son, North Carolina. Along with representatives from nineteen odier- colleges, they discussed participation: in sports and recreational activities. HORSE SHOW PLANNED Several members of the Hoofprint: Club will enter a horse show spon sored by the Capital Horseman’s Association. The event will be held- on November 4 at the Meredith stables. FASHION SHOW PRESENTED The October 18 meeting of To morrow’s Business Women was held at Burton’s in Cameron Village. Mr. Bob Bandsuch, sales promotion manager, discussed fashions and re viewed a fashion show. At the end of the show the club was treated t& refreshments by Burton’s. DEMONSTRATION GIVEN Thursday, October 19, the Home Economics Club was given a dem onstration on how to apply makeup by a representative of Merle Nor man Studio.
