Page Four THE TWIG October 1,1970 “Mrs.” Degree (Continued from page 3) fraternity. The lavalier also indicates a de fined dating relationship. Twenty- five girls, representing 13 houses, wear lavaliers. Carolina’s Chi Phi house ties with State’s Sig Ep house in claiming the largest number of Meredith girls. One hundred-nineteen students have fellows who live away from Raleigh. Imagine the commuting! And 44 guys are in Uncle Sam’s service while their girls live on cam pus. The poll explored the matter even further. Jewelry of some type is often used to designate a serious relationship between boy and girl— the most common type being the diamond engagement ring. Since the diamond can come in such a variety of cuts and settings, the poll also was designed to see what style of diamond was chosen most often by Meredith girls. Metal chosen White gold or platinum: 56% Yellow gold: 44% Settings chosen Enclosed diamond: 35% Raised, or Tiffany: 65% Number of prongs securing raised diamonds Six-prong: 45% Four-prong: 65% Cut of Diamond Round: 68% Emerald: 12% Oval: 8% Pear: 6% Marquis: 6% FALL SEMESTER Examination Schedule DECEMBER 10-19 GRE (Continued from page 1) dates should be determined by the requirements of graduate schools or fellowships to which one is applying. Scores are usually reported to gradu ate schools five weeks after a test date. The Graduate Record Examina tions include an Aptitude Test of general scholastic ability and Ad vanced Tests measuring achieve ment in 20 major fields of study. Full details and registration forms for the GRE are contained in the 1970-71 GRE Information Bulletin. The Bulletin also contains forms and instructions for requesting transcript service on GRE scores already on file with ETS. This booklet may be available in the Registrar’s Office. Dr. Gloria Blanton urges students to get together and apply to take the GRE on the same date, since a minimum of 30 students is needed on any one date before the test can be administered here. IRC (Continued from page 1) No preparation is required for this trip as is for the Model UN trips. The members that do attend a Model UN are representing a previously designated country.
