Who is that tall dark male strang er that frequents the Meredith cafe teria? (We know you’ve seen him!) Congratulations to the cast (as of now, unannounced) of “TTie Sound of Music.” And what about the senior suite that “bit the dust” at the same time? Congratulations Emily, Sue, Mar tha, and Mrs. Elliot. What junior student made her de but at the Mourning Room singing “Cotton Fields”? Where were you when the lights went out in New North on night of Sept. 8? Did you hear about the new top less dancer on First Faircloth? Booba-looba! Did you know that the Meredith . students own at least twenty-five per cent of the Player’s Retreat, due to ■ their generous contributions to the Budweiser and Schlitz foundations? What freshman hall tried to start a water battle when the sophomores were singing, “We love you fresh man” last Thursday? Dr. Joyner Entertains On Monday, September 20, Dr. Charles Joyner, Associate Professor of History at St. Andrew’s College in Laurinburg, N. C., spoke to the Meredith community on “Folk Lore and the American Experience.” Dr. Joyner had a variety of in struments including wind instru ments and percussion. After a brief history of the origins of folk music as we know it today, Dr. Joyner surprised the audience by playing songs familiar to the pub lic today that were actually written hundreds of years ago.
