Job Prospects Slim for Women Although there is some encouragement in the fact that undergraduate women received 27 percent more job offers than they did a year ago, the figures are deceiving. Women still only receive 16 percent of the total number of jobs offered by a large number of employers to bachelor’s degree candidates, male and female. On the master’s level, the figures are worse-women received only 15 percent of the total job offers. The figures are from the College Placement Council, who also report that job offers are down by 16 percent overall for all bachelor’s degree candidates. According to the report, men are receiving 20 percent fewer job offers than last year. At the master’s level, women have had 36 percent more offers than in March 1975, while men have had 13 percent fewer. The number of positions available to doctoral degree candidates, male and female, is off by 32 percent.
