Robert Hehvig, Allen Page) defeated Team R (Frank Grubbs, Evelyn Simmons. .John Holt) with a score of 170-12.5. Most of the questions in rounds one and two were on history. Since the teams were allowed to confer on answers, the expertise of the history professors helped keep the scores tied. It was not until late in the second round that the tie was broken. In the third round the faculty wagered points on a three part question con cerning the columns in front of .Johnson Hall. Interestingly enough, neither team an swered correctly. (Did you know that the six columns in front of .Johnson Hall are Corinthian and the carved figures are owls?) The knowledge of the faculty was impressive. They seemed to have little difficulty with fpiestions designed ('specially to catch them unaware. The audience was amazed at not only their quick wit hut at their sharp crit- ticisms as well. 4lumua ivius award Miss Nancy Martin/i .June graduate of Meredith and a history majopwon the Lillian Park('r Wallace Award for (•('search by the Wake County Phi Rota Kappa Society. And it is no wonder that they could not keep from singing when their director for the festival was the eminent American composer and conductor Alice Parker. With her musical genius. Miss Parker com posed Comnu'ntaries at Meredith's request. Com- in('ntari('s is in the form of a musical passion which requires two separate choruses.
