Competitors representing Meredith were Manning Winslow with a 6-1,6-1 victory, Lynn Hurt with a 6-0, 6-2 win, Alisa Robertson 6-2, 7-5 vic tory, Tammy Summers with a 6-4, 6-2 win, Martha Boisseau and Lee Britt, lost to Salem with scores of 7-5, 2-6, 4-6 and 3-6, 1-6. The Angels won all 3 doubles’ matches with Win slow and Hurt, winning 6-0, 6- 1, Robertson and Summers with a 7-6, 6-0 victory; Boisseau and Hennis teamed up to win 6-1, 6-3. Meredith over Methodist: On Thursday, April 10, the Angels were on the road to Fayetteville where they downed Methodist 8-1. The tennis team hopes to continue their success next week while they compete in the State Tournament. GOLF The Meredith Golf Team started the Spring Season out right when they defeated St. Mary’s by 150 strokes on Paschal’s Golf Course in Wake Forest on March 20. And although it might have been Apirl Fool’s Day, it was no joke that Freshman Peggy Williford was low for the Meredith group with 94 strokes, finishing second in the in dividual standings. Williford shot an impressive 43 strokes oh the backside, out of reach of first place by a mere six strokes.
