Dr. Bennett has worked in the field of education for many years and has an acute interest in opportunities and recognition for women. Meredith students will have the chance to informally talk to Dr. Bennett after convocation. “The convocation on Monday featuring Carolyn Bennett should be interesting to Meredith students to hear the success story of a fellow woman career person,” commented Cynthia Washington, publicity chairman for Black Voices in Unity. Other activities during the week include a dance group production entitled Through Our Eyes: Portrait of the Black Woman, a gospel sing on Tuesday, a special Wednesday worship service in the rotunda, and black poetry readings on Friday. “In celebration of the contributions that Black Americans have made to American history, which have long gone unnoticed.
