Carter, Canadian born and educated as a physicist at McGill University, was a research physicist for Aerospace Corporation until 1973 when she was employed by Tandem Productions for which she is now vice president for Creative Affairs. Ms Carter’s professional interests have continued to center in the worlds of physics and film, and her personal/ civic interests have centered in involvement in women’s organizations. She is currently trea surer, California ERA Coalition, and has been active in NOW and Women’s Lobby, Inc. Ms Carter has indicated that clear and logical thinking is a “stock in trade” for a physicist as well as for her functions with Norman Lear’s productions in which she is involved in production supervision, public liaison, and many other facets of what you and 1 even tually see on our television screens. Frank Balch Wood brings to Mere dith the perceptive insights of an individual who has graduate training in both psychology and theology, who is currently holding joint appointments as assistant professor of neuropsychology and assistant professor of psychiatry at Bowman Gray School of Medicine, whose publications have dealt with mem ory, amnesia, and cerebral blood flow, and who serves as a learning disability consultant to several edu cational institutions in North Caro lina. Dr. Wood is a graduate of Wake Forest University, Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Duke University. Hedda Bluestone Sharapan, the third Convocation Speaker during this Symposium, received her BS in psychology from Carnegie-Mellon University and her MS in Child Development from Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Her profes sional career has been associated almost exclusively with “Mr. Roger's Neighborhood,” where she has been Associate Producer since 1970. Ms Sharapan has a long list of publica tions, is well recognized as a speaker at conferences and workshops na tionally, and most recently has been concentrating on helping children and adults deal with death, Ms Sharapan and her husband, Donald, an insurance underwriter, are the parents of daughters aged eleven and eight. Carll Tucker was a theatre and book critic for the Village Voice and a free- lance writer before he became editor of Saturday Review in March 1977. Tucker is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Yale, 1973. His wife, Diane, is the former executive editor of the news papers of Cranford, New Jersey, and they have one child.
