Business Emphasis
Week Successful
by Virginia Qentry
"Make Business Your
Business!” was the theme of
the Business Emphasis Week
held September 20-22. It was
sponsored by the Business
Advisory Committee. The
purpose of the week was to
further awareness amortg
freshmen and sophomores
about the business
department and its many
facilities.
The week started with a
Tomorrow's Business
Women's Club meeting on
Monday, September 20, In
which two Meredith
graduates, Tai Hinnant
Mangum and Pam Waters,
spoke on their business
careers and how Meredith
prepared them for their
careers. Tuesday consisted of
a voileyball game between
students and' facuily artd
dinner in the President’s
Dining Room,
On Wednesday, the “Bits
about Business" session was
a huge success with an
Infonnal forum of faculty
members from the business
department. Meredith
students were informed on
courses, internships, co-ops,
word processing and basic
goals of the business
department; however, the
most Informative period came
with the question and answsr
session, where faculty
answered questions about
themseives and their ciassee.
Business students found out
that one business professor
was aiming towards looking
like Dolly Parton while another
wanted to be-a showgirl In Las
Vegas.
Many felt that the
informality and
comfortableness of the week
helped In bringing the faculty
and students of the business
department closer together.
