Humanities Research
The National Endowment
for the Humanities is accepting
applications until November 15
for its Younger Scholars Pro
gram. The Program finances In
dependent humanities research
and writing projects for stu
dents age 21 and under. The
Program will award $1800.00 to
a participating student and
$400.00 to her advisor. The pro
jects involve nine weeks of full
time work In humanities re
search during the summer.

This week the Office of
Continuing Education Is spon
soring two programs' about
which Menjith students may
want to know. The first Is a two-
hour workshop titled “What is a
’Paralegal." This workshop will
meet on Tuesday, October 11 in
Joyner Lounge and will be free
of charge. Any one considering
a paralegal program is urged to
attend.
The Paralegal fJeld is
growing and Is receiving a greet
deal of publicity but there are
still many people who are
uncert£dn about what a
paralegal is. Thid workshop IS
designed to oonskJer the duties
perforn>ed by par^egais |n
v^ous office situations and to
provide information and to
answer questions for those in
terested in a career as a legal
as^stant. Topics to be dis
cus^ are; educational back
ground required for paralegals,
types of paralegal programs
available, professional skills
needed by paralegals, career
opporiunlties for par^egals,
and the admissions process for
the. Meredith College Legal
Assistants Program.

Evening at Meredith” which will
begin at four o'clock on
Wednesday, October 12 in the
Commons Room of the Chajset.
