These losses were Meredith’s only two as they finished the fall season 3-2. Nothing but victories, including one over ACC, are between the first and last game. ACC just did get by Meredith, September 20, at Meredith. Players Jean Stroud, Lynn Grosshandler, and Courtney Chesson won their single matches. Grosshandler • Stroud and Bait>ara - Lillian Neal were doubles winners. Meredith did defeat ACC in the Eastern Collegiate Tourna ment field at Meredith Sep- temtier 20. Meredith plac^ third behind Campbell and Mars Hill. ACC finished fourth. Eight teams competed in the tourna ment. Stroud and Grosshandler made it to the single finals. Stroud loss to Janet Thomp son; Grosshandler to Karen Grey, both from Campbell. After a good finish in the toumey, Meredith went on to defeat Mary’s at Meredith, September 29. Single winners were Rhett Ellertie, Theresa Duffy, Jean Stroud, and Lynn Grosshandler. Doubles winners were Betsy Short - Rhett Eiierbe. On October 3, Meredith was once again playing Campbell, tfie toumey “champs.” The title carried no m^ing for the Meredith players. With single wins from Duffy, Bulla, .and Grosshandler and double wins from Grosst^andler • Stroud and Duffy- Bulla, Meredith defeated Campt>ell. With the momentum up and going, Meredith went to Queens College Octot>er 5, and soundly defeated the home team. Single winners were Ellertje, Duffy, Bulla. Stroud, and Grosshandler. Double winners were Short - Ellertie, Neal - Bulla, and Chesson • Wagoner. Meredith's last game was certainly not indicative of their winning season. Meredith suf fered a big loss to ACC. Single winners were Grosshandler and Neal who also won as double partners. STATISTICS: Underlined teams are home teams. Meredith singles and doubles winners.
