JANUARY 30. 1984 THE TWIG PAGE 3 ASPA Notes Recitals Spring ‘^84 By Ellen Austin and Laura Payne The Meredith College Student Chapter of ASPA met November16al 7:00p.m. In the Harris Conference Room. The speakers discussed their posi tions In the field of personnel. Diana Nicklaus discussed her responsibilities, such as job placement, at the Employment Security Commission. June Lindbergh spoke on the advan tage of woi1(ing for Manpower. ASPA’s December project was to visit Knoilwood Iwlanor, an e)ctended health care facility ' in Raleigh. The group met with the patients to sing carols and eat Christmas goodies. As a gift from ASPA the patients re- RHB January Events celved the Meredith C^rale Christmas album. After a much-needed Christ mas holiday, ASPA met on January 18 at 7:00 p.m., in the Chapel Commons. Lu Ann Herring from NCNB and Glen Pritchett from Mallinckrodt dis cussed proper' inten/iewing techniques and answered ques tions posed .by the students. TTie yeart:>^k picture for ASPA was taken in Johnson Hall January 24 at 7:45 p.m. The next meeting for ASPA will be February 15 at 7:00 p.m. George Shelton will be there to discuss business growth and unions in North Carolina. This will be a very interesting pro gram and all ASPA members and faculty are urged to attend. Residence Hall Board is providing an opportunity for you to leam a new craft in order to participate in the crafts con test held by SGA in March. A variety of craft lessons will be available on the following dates and first floor parlors. All events will take place at 8:00 p.m. unless otherwise posted. On January 30: Heilman, crochet; Barefoot, candie- wicking and lamp punching; Poteat, crewel; Vann, knitting. On January 31: Brewer, cross-stich and wood working; Strlngfieid, pillows; Barefoot, crochet; Heilman, stenciling. If you have questions, please contact your dorm council re presentative. We hope to see you learning a new craft. Meredith Miler Meredith Recreation Association Is sponsoring the Meredith Miler Program. The program is open to ail Meredith students, faculty and staff for the purpose of pronwting health and physical fitness througli running aid-or walking. An entry fee of $3.00 will be charged. Participants will predict the amount of miles they expect to cover by the end of the semester. Miles can be counted by running or walking. This semester swimming will be added to the miler program. Thrlty-six lengths will Ije considered equiva lent to a mile. Participants may begin the program as soon as they submit entry forms and $3.00 to the Cate Center Box Office. Miler log sheets should be picked up wtien you sulxnit your entry form. Mileage goals should be achieved and log she^s turned In by April 25, 1984.
