PAGE 4 THE TWIG APRIL 30, ->984 SPORTS Spring is here and so Is Ihe end of the year. To wrap up our school year of fun Intramural sports, we had kickbali and laadfTilnton Intramurals. The re sults for kickbali could not be publist^ed In this Issue due to a delay in the tournament be cause of “spring showers"; however, the results for bad minton can be announced. V\Aioever said badminton is for the "birdies” is completely mistaken - badminton is an awesome sport! The single elimination tournament was held in Weatherspoon Gym. Melinda Wrenn and Suzanne Griffin remained victorious throughout the entire touma- ment which led them Into the final match. With, rackets In hand and the "birdie” In flight, Melinda and Suzanne traded “swats" very competlvely and en ergetically. However, after a long, hard battle,Melinda Wrenn defeated Suzanne In a best two out of three match with a finsd score of 11-f, 11-2. Melinda re ceived an Intramural champion t-shirt for her successful vic tory. We’ve had a lot of fun this year with 4ntramurals and we hopeyouallhaveaswell. Thank you for your support and en thusiasm and stupendous Meredith spirit! Special ttKuiks to all the In tramural representatives for a job well done. Your help was a positive factor In the success of Intramurals this year. However, a “one hand^two hand-both hands MRA applause" must be given to Jan Gillean, intramural advisor and coordinator, who gave her time and talents v^ willingly to see that Meredith’s intramurals grew and developed into a fun and vital program on Meredith’s campus. Thanks, Jan! I Students enfoy the activities at Play Day.
