PAQES THE TWO APRIL 15, 1986 EDITORIALS Meredith College: The beauty of It all^ Everslncel wasachlld, I have loved being and wofMng outdoors. This wot1(ed very well In my home because my sister liked working inside. When the sun was out, so was I. I guess It's tse- caiise of this Interest that I always take noteof others'yards. When I see a yard, I can visualize how I think It should look to Impnsve the landscape of It. I have enjoyed watching our Indus trious staff at Meredith work on Im proving the grounds here. The back en trance (behind the senior dCMiris) looks fantastic. The new grass, treee, and shaibs have added great distinction to this area The lake Is another area that Is be yond words, “nie azaleas and dogwoods accent the natural beauty the lake alreay possesses. What a great place to go to collect your thoughts, have a picnic, talk >Mth a friend. The open fields around Meredith set this campus apart from others. We are fortunate to have such nice grounds here. Meredith Is Its own little heaven. Think of all the kitee we can fly In the fields, the plck>up football games we can play, the frisbees vre can throw. The only part of the campus that hasn't been properly manicured Is the courtyard. Somedogwoods, red maples, arxJ azaleas would enhance the beauty of this area. The donns look bare and dis mal with the scrappy bushes and unharn essed Ivy. I sure wish some attention could be given to the courtyard. That area haseo much potential. It could be the most beautiful pari of the campus; howeever, right now, K isn’t. wm. Students should earn interest Students shouM earn Interest from their student fees, the Associated Stu dents of the U. of Oregon is claiming. Its finance coordinator wants the state legislature to turn over the Interest eamed on student fee surpluses to the ASUO. Under curirent practice, the state receives the interest on the account, al though the mony belongs to the students and is used In yeare when student fees fall short of expected budgets. Charles A. Davis, Associate Dem and Registrar, announced that as of July 1,1965 the charge for sendi ng transcripts of academic records will be $2.00 per copy.
