Meditation Room Secret Revealed
by Sam Carothers
Campus Minister
The Best Kept Secret At Meredith
be tt)e Ellen Brewer Meditation
Room in Jones Chapel! This room re
presents a long standing tradition at
Meredith; namely, that of providing a
place for students, faculty, and staff to
use for quiet reflection arKi prayer.
Much is dor>e at this campus to pro
mote opportunities for corporate or
community worship, but often the op
portunity for personal worship is over
looked.
Located In the Christina and Seby
Jones Cttapel, this room is ^n for use
from6:30 am. every morning until the
nonnal closing times for the dorms. It
is set aside for those times wfien you
might wish to pull away from the fast
pace and pressures of study and work
in order to concentrate on your rela
tionship with God. This room is kept
free of scheduled activities. Groups are
asked not to use this room as a meeting
space. Meeting rooms are available in
the Cfiapel through Dr. Mason. The size
and intent of the room are such that a
number of persons should be ^le to
use the room at the same time without
disturbing one another.
The Meditation Room is enhanced by
the presence of Bibles, hymnals, a de
votional publication — “Alive Now,”
and art w^; all intended to provkJe an
atmosphere for prayer and meditation.
In the hustle and bustle of Raleigh,
it!s nice to know that there is a place for
some peace ^ quiet. Share the secret
of the Ellen Brewer Meditation Room.
