SEPTEMBER 23. 1985 THt TWIG Pat S The New Season of Music, Theater and Dance The Meredith Performs Concert Series will begin in Noveir^rwith its biggest production of the '85-'86 sea son, The Sound of Music. It will be fol lowed by Tales of the Jazz Age, The Meredith Dance Theatre, and The Tiuning of the Shrew, Tales of the Jazz Age, an original theatre piece, will portray prominent fig ures: Ernest Hemingway, Dorothy Par ker, F. Scott, Zeida Fitzgerald, Ger trude Stein, Isadora Duncan, and Get^wln, recreating the music, dance, and literature of the roaring twenties. The Dance Theatre, *oreographed b>y Allyson Coiwell, wiii preset its show in earty /^ril. This innovative creation of modem dance is the result of two semesters of preparation by the Meredith dancers. The Taming of the Shrew will be pro duced with an all fen^e cast. Dr. John Creagh, head of the Theatre Arts De partment, is excited about the produc tion and is directing the play from a dif ferent angle paroding the sexism in this William Shakespeare comedy. Dr. Creagh also encourages those who do not consider themselves actresses to use other skills: dancers, gymnlsts, tumblers, acrobats, ex-cheerleaders, hackey-sack players, clowns, mimes, or those with any unusual skills. it promises to be a good season and season tickets are available: Adults $17.00 each, and Students-Sr. citizens $11.00 each.
