Raleigh, NC 27611 January 30,1987 Senate posts male visitation survey results by Mary Ann Lisenba The idea of males in the dcHins is a very delicate issue here on campus. Most eveiy- one assumes that nothing can be changed. Who knows? Senate has listened to its constituency and is acting on what we have heard. A committee composed a survey about male visitation in the dorms. The survey was distributed by RHA through the RA’s in Monday, November 10 hall meetings. By Tuesday night all completed surveys were collected by >4ie committee. In just twen^-four hours sixty percent of the students voted and returned their ballots to be tablulated. Thank you Meredith students. Your sup port and response was tremendous. The results of the survey are as follows: Seniors Juniors Sophomores Freshmen Pocent Voting 51% 55% 70% 56% Do You Want Mak Visitation? Seniors Juniors Yes No Maybe 84.5% 14.5% 1% 90% 10% Sophomores 87% 13% Freshmen 95.7% 3.8% .5% The third question on the survey listed suggestions for visitation days. No agree ment was reached by any class. All the opinions were scattered ft’om Sunday daytime-only to weeknights and weekend hours. Senate carefully considered your sug gestions (i.e., being considerate of quiet hours) in choosing Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. as our designated time for male visita tion.
