MEA Entertainment at Its Best Come join Meredith Entertainment Association on Wednesday, October 6. for their annual Luau. Dinner will be served in the courtyard as part of the Luau, and the meal will include several types of fruit, ribs, and pineapple chicken. A special fruit punch will be available to help stu dents feel as if they are actually in The Islands. Carl Rosen will be the guest performer at the Luau. He is a musician and a comedian who should prove to be an excellent performer. Remember the MEA Luau on October 6 in the courtyard from 4-6. Come ready to have a fun and exciting time in Meredith’s Hawaii! Reminder Angels Comedy Club will open on September 28 at 7:31 p.m. in the Le Greenhouse Cafe. The opening per formance will feature Randy Levin a comedian, magician, and mime. The show will begin at 8:01 p.m. so be sure to come early to get one of the best seats! Apply at Sir Walter Restaurant, 400 Fayette ville St. Mall (next to Radlsson). _ Department heads and represen tatives joined approximately 40 Wings students for a Pot Luck Supper on September 9th. The supper was designed to give students Informa tion about the various majors offered at Meredith. Each department spokesperson gave a brief speech about the major in their discipline along with sugges tions for complementary minors. Other topics discussed were job opportun ities. scholarship availability, and supportive services offered to stu dents through the Office of Student Development. The event was just as entertaining as it was Informative — and the food was outstanding. As Suzie Fox, President of Wings put it, “This has been great! I believe we’ve started a new tradition at Meredith.” Plans are underway for next year's gathering so if you missed this year’s event do make a special effort to attend next year. The Career Services Office, second floor of Cate Center, has evening hoursTuesday and Wednesday each week between 6-7 p.m. On Tuesday evenings Joan Mills, Associate Director, Is available for scheduled counseling appointments dur ing that time. The Resource Room — filled with company information, graduate school catalogues, and informative, helpful career development books and jour nals — Is a fine place for quiet study and interview preparation. According to president Susie Fox, the purpose of WINGS (Women In New Growth Settings) is to give support to the student over twenty- three years old. The organization WINGSI has over four hundred members that attend Meredith both during the day and evening. Rather than having scheduled meetings, WINGS has more programs and social events. WINGS will per form the opening act for Cornhus- kln’, which will take place In October. "We are really excited about it,” said Fox. A color analysis will be the topic ofthe November meeting. Cindy Allen Edwards’ mother will be the speaker and will also perform a color analysis on different people. Even though they are not tradi tional students, according to Fox, “We get together and socialize like the traditional students."
