MEREDITH HEDALD Vol. 4 No. 11 Meredith College, Raleigh, NC 27611 November 15,1988 Availability of Phone Numbers to Students A campus information service has been provided where anyone may call and request a student's phone number anytime (including nights and week ends). This number is posted in John son Hall, next to the switchboard, and is on the switchboard’s after-hours re cording. The number is 829-7590. While the directory service solves the problem of off-campus students finding numbers for on-campus students, the reverse is not true. The directory ser vice currently does not provide the numbers of off-campus students. Phone books cannot be provided to non-resident students by Information Services or Cam-tel for security rea sons. The Cam-tel brochures, in fact, state that the numbers will not be given out in this manner. A separate organiza tion, however, can produce and sell phone books if they wish. New Club Open To All Students by Jayne Potter If you are a self-motivated student who is looking for some kind of contact with professionals in the areas of mar keting and advertising, Meredith’s new Marketing and Advertising club may interest you. Brandie Norns, president, stresses that the club works “as a team.” The club’s purpose is for interaction and feedback with people in the business world, so it is up to the individual to make the effort to go to meetings. How ever. club members take responsibility for planning activities, as a group, rather than putting the burden of planning on the advisor. The club, advised by Dr. Sharon Warden, does not hold all of its meet ings on campus. Most meetings that students attend are those of Raleigh's Ad II and/or the American Marketing Association of Raleigh. The club is planning to bring profes sionals onto campus sometime in the spring. There will be a session after wards where students can talk with and/or have the guests critique their resumes and portfolios. No definite date has been set. If you’re interested, contact any of the club's officers: Brandie Norris, presi dent; Michelle T utherow, vice-president of programs: Anne Marie Rice, vice- president of projects; Jennifer Guyer, financial coordinator.
