February 14,1989 Grounds Crew Keeps Meredith Beautiful by Mary Moore The Grounds Maintenance crew has been busy for the past few weeks, re moving and replacing the old shrubs that lined the courtyard. Approximately seventy photeniafraz- iers and nandinas have been planted along the freshman and sophomore dorms. As many of the old plants as possible will be salvaged and planted around the art building. Mr. Lee Adams, supervisor of the crew, has been at Meredith for the past three years. He feels that the grounds "still need a lot of work." One of the crews’ next projects will be the re-landscaping of the lake area. Mr. Adams would like to replace the old azalea beds with rhododendron bushes that would bloom for graduation. This spring, flowers will be in bloom all over campus. Mr. Adams hopes to plant even more flower beds. Also, for the first time, wild flowers have been planted in the fields behind Cate Cen ter. If they bloom successfully, more wild flower beds may be added. A reward for the crews' many hours of hard work came last month. They received an award from the Men's Garden Club of Wake County for the college's beautiful grounds and gar dens.
