Receiving a personal welcome. John Creagh from the Fine Arts Department. “It (the dinner) was a nice time to socialize and meet others in the freshman class in a comfortable atmosphere,” said Dill. On Monday night freshmen spent an evening with their faculty and student advisors. “I like both my advisors a lot and they really seem to know what is going on. They really helped me to organize my schedule,” said freshman Julie Westbrook. Registration and book sales were the main focus during the day on August 22. Although'the lines were long, the freshmen survived. “When 1 went to register everything went smoothly since my time was early, so it was easy for me to get all of my classes,” said Clark. That night the Honor Code Cere mony was held in Jones Chapel featuring an inspirational address by Meredith Alumnae, Bettie Shipp. “The ceremony was beautiful with a lot of tradition behind it,” said Westbrook. “The overall orientation went very well with an excelled effec tiveness over past years. There were many bright spots and everyone was very cooperative and participative,” said Dean of Students, Dorothy Sizemore. “I was glad for classes to start on Wednesday because I thought when we came to college it was a time to become a woman, not girls, and my image was blown when we went on a dinosaur egg hunt. Although I can see their point to try to get us closer and to reach out and meet new people,” said freshman Deborah Helms. “It was a good time to get ad justed before classes started and everyone here is really friendly and outgoing,” said freshman Janie Sands. There was a lot of work behind orientation and such groups as MCA, MEA, MRA, SGA, the Honor Coun cil, Resident Directors, Resident Assistants, student advisors, and dorm presidents helped make it a success. One of many boxes and suitcases to be unpacked. “This year’s freshman class is a very energetic and vivacious one. It is a class with a lot to offCT Meredith,” said Sizemore. Freshman residents of Strlngfield stopped by the parlor to pick up their keys and long-distance access codes.
