career connections • ^f't ') f ' f Job Fair 1989 Information On November 7 and 8, students from Meredith will join their counterparts from other private North Carolina colleges and uni versities at the High Point Radis- son for Job Fair 1989. The annual event brings together under one roof students from eight higher education instituticms and recruit^ ers representing over 80 employ ers from business and industry, human services, and government Referred to as a “two-day job hunter’s dream,” the Job Fair pro- ! vides an extraordinary opportu- i nity for students to meet and inter view recruiters from key compa nies and agencies. Developed by the schools’ career services of fices to supplement on-campus interviewing efforts, Job Fair attracts employers who might not visit smaller campuses^ ^ow in its sixth year, this year’s Job Fair has moved from the college campus to a new upscale location at the Radisson Hotel in High Point, N.C. On Tuesday, November 7, students from all classes may par ticipate in Information-Sharing Day. From 12:30 to 5:00 p.m., under classmen, seniors, graduate stu dents, and alums may talk infor mally with representatives about careers, companies, and employment opportunities. No prior registration is required. Wednesday, November 8 has been reserved for seniors only. Devoted to pre-arranged formal interviews for seniors of all majors. Interview Day runs from 8:30 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. Interview schedules were employer selected on the basis of resumes submitted in September for from conversations on Inforamtion Day. Job Fair 1989 is a joint venture of the N. C. Career Consortium, a group of eight North Carolina col leges and universities. Member institutions are: Davidson, Elon, Greensboro, Guilford, High Point, Meredith, Salem and Wake Forest. Organized in 1984, the Consortium has acquired the reputation of bring ing together well qualified students with quality employers. A list of employers will be pub lished in next week's issue of the Herald. Career Planning Courses Offered Undecided about a College Major? Consider regis tering for this class offered during the Spring Semester 1990. Choosing a CoU^e Major and Career Planning Seminar (CPS 101) offeed Mondays & Wednes days from 4:00 p.m.- 4:50 p.m. 1 credit hour. Pass/fail grading. Unclear about what to do with your major after graduation? Wonder what your options for employment might be? Do you know the techniques for a com plete and successful job search? Consider registering with your faculty advisor for Identifying a Career and Conducting a Job Search (CPS 301) offered Wednesdays 3:(K) p.m.- 4:50 p.m. 1 credit hour. Pass/fail grading. Both classes hear presenta tions weekly from women who have found successful careers in a variety of fields. Career planning is one of the most important proc esses each of us goes through.
