contractors to blind and poison animals
with its products.
Magram told the Herald that these
tests are not required by any law and
they offer no protection to you, the
consumer. Companies who perform
product testing on animals are doing so
to protect themselves in the event of a
consumer lawsuit.

A visit to Raleigh Creative Costumes
at 6l6 St. Mary's Street is like stepping
into a closet full of fantasy. Ms. Douglas
Haas, owner of the 17-year-old
establishment, has seen many
Halloweens come and go and has several
tips for hot costumes this year.
‘Nuns, priests, and witches are
popular this year,” Haas said *01d South

dressed as southern belles and the men
wearing Confederate urUforms.”
Flappers, clowns and anything with
glitz are sure to be seen at Halloween
get-togethers this Wednesday night Ms.
Haas offered flappers and gangsters as
a fashionable ccHiple costume.
Creative Costumes carries a varied
assortment of accessories: make-up,
wigs, temporary hair color, masks,
sparkly ^elashes, stockings, and
anything with glitter and sequins.
Ready-made costumes such as
Dorothy and other Wizard of Oz
characters, mermaids, turtles, bunnies,
skeletons and snakes can be had for $20
and up.
Rental costumes are available from
$20; most average $25-$35.
On Saturday, CreaUve Costumes was
jamned with people getting an early
start on the big night. Even though most
costume shops are well stocked this
time of year, Ms. Haas suggested that it’s
better not to wait until the last minute to
get started on your Halloween dis^ise.
