Meredith Organization Wins State Award Ihe Sodety of Human Resource Management (SHRM) has received the North Carottna Student Chapter of the Year Award. The award was presented by Ma^e Fishboume cS the Raleigh- Wake Chapter of SHRM at the club’s November 14 meeting. Bobbie little, president-elea of the American Sodety for Training and Develc^ment CASTD) was the guest speaker. She discussed employee training and what types of skills employers are lookingfor today. PI Delta Phi Inductions by Katfay Craig On November 19, 1990 two new members were inducted into the Pi Delta Phi Honor Society. Bonnie Bugnar and Sabrina Matheny were nominated in recognition of their academic achievement in upper-level French. Eligible students must rank in the upper 35% of their dass in general studies, as well as in French, with a minimum GPA of 3.00 in Frendi and a minimum of 2.8 in general studies. The first chapter of Pi Delta Phi was established in 1^ at the University of California at Berkeley. At present, the organization has 242 chapters. Help Light the Campus Luminaries will be sold in Cate Center and Belk Dining Hall during lunch and diimer hours on Monday and Tuesday, December 3 and 4. Prices are $1.00 for one and $5 for six. The luminaries will be placed around the drives and walkways and lit after dinner on Tuesday. Sponsored this year by Meredith's Student Foundation, the luminaries add a serene and peaceful glow to the campus. Raleigh residents enjoy an annual ride through the campus to enjoy this part of our holiday celebration. Please support the Student Foundation by purchasing a luminary. The troops in the Mkldle East made a wish list for Christmas ^ch the Santa Projea is taking part in fulfilling The list indudes items such as: too^brushes, toothpaste, mouthwash, razors, lotion, shampoo, and conditioner. Entertainment-starved soldiers also requested games and magazines to help them pass the time. Ihe gifts from Operation Desert Santa should arrive in time for Christmas to boost some sagging holiday spirits.
