White Iris Ball
Considered a
’’Big Time” by
Students
by Jessica Cuok
On Friday, November 15, Meredith En-
tertainmem Association hosted the Centen
nial White Iris Ball at the Raleigh Civic
Center.
According to junior Sara Meador, the dance
was a “big timeBeft>re the dance, Meredith
students dined at a variety of Raleigh res-
taunmts, including the Angus Bam, Est! Est!
Est!, and the Butcher Block. Other students
chose to order pizza or eat subs in their hotel
rooms. Whole floors of the Radisson Hotel
in downtown Raleigh were ovt^lowing with
festive Meredith students and their handsome
dates; In fact, the dance and the following
celebrations at the Radisst>n were such hits
that the Raleigh City Police paid visits to
several floors!
Sounds Unlimited pmvided the music for
the dance; the DJ. played a range of tunes
that included every musical taste. Selections
included Clint Black, AC/DC, Jesus Jones,
and the Righteous Brothers. The dance floor
was packed with students enjoying the upbeat,
danceable music that was perfectly suited tor
the gala event.
Juniors Penny Kiser and Jodi McCann,
however, stated they enjoyed the dance but
questioned the steep prices tor tickets and T-
shirts.
Without a doubt, Meredith students dis
played their t^hion sense in the beautiful
dresses they wore lo the dance. Velvet dresses
in a wide variety of colors and styles were
most popular, followed closely by strapless
black cocktail dresses and frocks adorned
with colortiil sequins.
