North Carolina Suie Fair Sports Briefs Volleyball by Kate Stewart The Meredith Volleyball team lost to Bennett College 17-15, 17- 15, 17-15, 15-8, 17-15, in Greens boro Thursday. According to Coach Chamblee, the match was the clos est that Meredith has played so far. Both Tricia Sparks and Kristi Narron turned in good performances. Meredith now stands with a 3- 4 record on the season, and Coach Chamblee is looking forward to the Aqua Angels by Tracey Rawls Meredith’s Aqua Angels pre sented “A Splash of Color” Sunday as part of Family Weekend. “There was an excellent parent and family turnout. I would guess that200-plus people were there. The Angels did an exceptional job, “ said Carol Brown, Aqua Angels coach. Ten Angels performed five numbers. The performers were Amy Anderson, Mitchell Brown, Laurie Flag football by Sara Maultsby Flag football intramural ac tion is coming down to the wire, with the last of the quarterfinal games being played on Sept. 29 between 1st Faircloth and 3rd Faircloth. 3rd Faircloth was the victor. The results of last week’s quarterfinal games are 1st and 2nd Barefoot defeating 4th Vann, 3rd Vann downing 1st Stringfield, 2nd Dance gathering The annual Meredith College Fall Dance Gathering will be held this year in conjunction with the N.C. Dance Alliance Annual Event, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 17 and 18 at Weatherspoon Gymnasium, Meredith College. Featured guest teacher for the event will be New York choreographer/dancer Doug Varone who will teach modem dance technique classes on Saturday and Sunday. Additional events, led by N.C. dance artists and educators, will include Pilates mat work. Tap rest of the year with this team be cause she feels that the current squad is the best that Meredith has had in a while. Chamblee did stress that although the girls need to work on their consistency, they have been competitive in every match and are an exciting team to watch. The team has two home matches this week, having played Salem College yesterday and play ing Mt.01ive Thursday at 7 p.m. Coleman, Amy Compton, Mich elle DeGruy, Angie Grady, Laura Lineberger, Carol White and “Mouse” Wilkins. Brown said the City of Ra leigh has asked the Aqua Angels to perform at the opening of the new pool at Pullen Park in No vember. Tryouts for the team will also be held in November. Tentative dates are Nov. 16,17, andl8. The Angels next on-campus performance will be in the spring. Stringfield defeating 3rd Brewer, and 3rd Faircloth winning over 3rd Poteat. The semi-finals are now set with 2nd Stringfield facing 3rd Faircloth on Oct.6 at 4:00. 1st and 2nd Barefoot and 3rd Vann have played Oct.l at 5:00 with 1st and 2nd Barefoot advancing to the Superbowl. Dance, Choreography for Dance Educators, an informal choreo graphic showing, and an environ mental improvisation celebrating NCDA’s 10th anniversary. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m., Oct. 17 and 18. The event is free for Meredith students. For non-Meredith students pre-regis tration fees are $35.00, $30.00 NCDA members; one day $ 18.00, $15.00 NCDA members; $7.00 single class.
