Even though most students were
taking their break over the summer,
hard work was still being done at
Meredith. Many noticeable improve
ments and changes have taken place
on our campus. Students returned K>
school to find everything ftom new
windo«^ in their rooms to a re-mod-
eled Joyner.
The amphitheater, a place of noted
beauty on campus, has been an area of
concern to all that have seen the refur
bishment take place. Charies Taylor,
vice president of business and finance,
said they are filling in the mc»t and
repairing the weathered steps in the
amphitheater, but the rest of the lake
will be back to normal upon complc'
tion of those pro|ects. “The amphithe
ater will be ready for use by
Comhuskin’,’ said Taylor.
The International House has had
some much needed improvements
done this summer as well. On the
exterior, they baveresur£iced the walls
with a stucco sur&ce and have plans
change the porches and add to the
entrance way roof.
On the interior, some walls have
been altered and repainted, and new
carpets and furniture have been added
in the rooms. New landscaping will be
done around the International House,

and.plans have been made to replace
the existing parlor furniture as well.
All of these changes are scheduled to
be completed by late September.
Due to the opening of Ledford,
space has opened up in Joyner, and
there has been some restructuringand
modernizingofthefadlity. “Thebuild-
ing has gotten a general facelift, whidi
includes new carpet, paint, refinished
furniture and some structural changes
in offices," said Taylor.
Along with new dotible-insulated
metal windows put in Brewer, Faircloth
and Stringfidd, new windows will be
installed in Vann next summer. These
The professors stepped up to give
us some of the many reasons why they
enjoy their respective fields.
Dr. Paiker had the task of writing
their adventure down and she quickly
realized the possible difficulties of
writing a paper.
Dr. Weir’s most memorable mo
ment occurred when one of her stxt
dents informed her of the '‘snof on
theendofheriK>se.
Dr. Swab wandered around, thank
ful to be in an ecosystem full of trees
andyellow-beUied sap suckers.
Dr. Goode was tiying to be fashion
able in a camouflage jacket and i^e
windows increase efficiency because
they allow less air leak^e and do not
require painting.

another studio and a much larger
weight room are being constructed
right now.
The weight room will also house
new exercise equipment This part of
the building will be for both cl^ and
personal use. This area is due to be
ready by the spring semester.
“Ovef the next few months, we
will be moving earth between the
figuring out how to get an interior
design team to redo her tent.
Dr. Zingraff was enjoying studying
people and taking field notes, while
Dr. Bross was trying to figure out how
to get everyone to exercise.
Dr. Creah , the only male on the
trip, happily a>mmunicated that he
would not stand for sexual discrimina
tion.
Problems arose at dinnettime be
cause no one would help Dr. Goode
cook, so she left angrily.
When the others realized bow badly
she was needed, they sent Dr. Creah
after her in hopes that his good com-

done in conjunction with CC. Mag

If you are a senior and are still
getting lost, don’t wony.
Several offices have been relocated
to serve students more efficiently.
When asked about the reason be
hind the shuffle. Taylor descrtt>ed the
moves as a “domino effect."
He went on to explain the consoli

move in an attempt to better suit indi
vidual needs.
Administration also wants to cen
trally locate other related offices.
For instance, the student develop
ment offices— Student Activities and
Leadership Development, Dean of Stu

located in Cate Center with the excep

Devdopment office.
The Personal Growth Counseling
Center has been moved to Carroll
