Tlje Meredith Soccer
team is kicking off their
third season with a
scrimmage game at
Meredith on August
29th.
The team is coached by
Jose Cornejo, and he is
thrilled about the up
coming year. He expects
this season to be the
team’s best yet.
This year’s team consists
of 21 players, and there
are 1 1 players on the
field at a time. Positions
on the field include
forwards, sweepers.
stoppers, mid-fielders,
and fullbacks. There are
two halves lasting forty

Of the 21 members on
the soccer team, 12 of
these girls are new
members. Kelly
Pergerson and Scottie
Eustis are the senior co

are excited and ready to
lead the team.
“I get a great fulfillment
in playing soccer because
of the relationships I
make with the other
girls and the challenge of
being a team leader,”
Pergerson said.
The regular soccer
schedule starts with a
home game on Septem
ber 5th against Mt. Olive
College.
Coach Cornejo said, “This
soccer year the future
looks bright, and I hope
the Meredith students
come out to support the
girls.” He feels school
support boosts the girls’
spirit and lets the team
know what a good job
they are doing.
Fans can be there on
August 29th and Sep
