Senate begins legislative year
by Betsy Stewart
The Meredith College Senate began
the 1995-96 legislative year with an
orientation and get-acquainted
meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 5 in the
Chapel Reading Room.

according to Senate Chair Erica
Balmer, was to give Senators their
notebooks, discuss the role of the
Senate in the Student Government
Association (SGA) and set goals for
the upcoming year.
As stated in the SGA constitution,
the role of the Senate is to recom
mend changes in the constitution
and regulations of SGA, review the
constitutions of existing and
proposed student organizations and
approve or reject any regulation
changes proposed by the Student
Life Committee, the SGA Executive
Committee, or any Meredith
