November 8,1995 8 Campus Extras Now and Then: a must see for best friends Now and Then is a movie all women must see. I ’ll try to do this movie justice in my review. But, take it from me, words can not explain just how good it is. Now and Then, directed by Susan Todd and Demi Moore, took place during the 1960’s. The movie opens up with the four girls; Roberta (by Rosie O’Donnell), Teenie (Melanie Griffith), Sam (Demi Moore), and Crissy (Rita Wilson) in adulthood. They are ail re united by a pact made when they were 12, which said that when they needed each other they would all come to gether again. Movie Review By Melissa Cloer They then reminisce back to their childhood during the summer when they all were 12 years old. Their goals that summer consisted of getting enough money for a tree house, get ting revenge on neighborhood boys, and finding out how Dear Johnny died. Through the summer they all wanted to become more independent from their families, but learned that they had become dependent on each other. The girls also learned that sum mer that they can not change the bad that has already happened, but to go on with life and make the best of everything. This movie shows the true mean ing of friendship, not to always judge people so quickly, that there is more to one than how he looks, and that your parents are not always right. Now and Then is definitely one for a girl’s night out. It will make you laugh, cry, and glad to be a female because it shows the real bond be tween women - one that men do not have. This movie is playing at Imperial Cinemas and at Six Forks, so the next time you do not have anything to do grab your best friend and go see this movie. You will be glad you did!
