Meredith Briefs Campus car thieves caught Three men charced with cai-breakings on Meredilh’s c|ppus were apprehended and arrested by campus se curity and the Raleigh po- Ii|e Friday morning, /^'^eredith security chief Mike Hoke detained one white male and two black Mes at 10:15 a.m. on rea- siliabie suspicion ofviiit^ vdlvement in three thefts which took place earlierlast wM. Hoke had seen the min driving around in th& Pi parking lot in a red MSsan, Upon condirt ng a “plain view search :of the Nissan, Hoke saw two long-blade screwdnvers, two cellular phones and three cases of cassette tapes. Three offic ers from the Raleigh Police Department arrived at Meredith upoa request of campus secuntj^and arrested the three males. Pending finaJ inspeaions. Meredith’s relocated and re vamped snack bar will open January 30. to offer all the Hillsborough Street favorites on one convenient location, including a GnlleWorks, aChick-fil-A, a Deli Comer, and an Itza Pirn. GrilleWoiks will serve hamburgers as well as garden burgers. Chick-fil-A, which added $25 of “Chick-fil-A Bucks’’ to resident stu dents’ CainCards, will serve the traditional Chick-fil-A fare: fried and grilled diicken sand wiches, fried cliickeii strips, waffle fries, and liieir lemonade. Those looking for more health- conscious foods can find Healthy Qioice meats and Alpine cheeses in the deli. Itza Pizza will let students build their own six-inch pizzas. Aside from the hot food services, siudents may pick from a fruit and vegetable salad bar, a Freshen's frozen yogurt bar. a bakery box fea turing bagels, muffius, cinnamon buns, muffins, Otis Spunkemeyer cookies and Krispy Kreme dougbnuts, three gourmet coffees and a selec tion of teas, and shelves of tJie requisite snacks, candy bars, chips, and sodas. Sharon Stingley, the Bee Hive’s queen bee. admined the rangeof provisions was ambitious, but said all services “should fly.” Stingley. who worked for Meredith’s catering for five years before her current position, said she welcomed an opportunity to “serve the Meredith commu nity in a new way, but slill see (he same old faces." Stingley promised to put her “own little fingerprint on this operation and how it's done.” Stingley also said she would keep tlie Bee Hive “customer-conscious,” by posting a sug gestion box and paying attention to repeat sug gestions. “I’m very optimistic about the busi ness I’mgoing to do,” she said, pointing out that the Bee Hive's “self-serve” setup should keep customer traffic flowing andmiiiimize any pos sible wailing.
