April 16,1997 Campus News Numerous academic awards presented at convocation Betb HaU Staff Repwter Congratulations to all award 1996-1997 winners! On Monday, April 14, Jones Auditorium was filled with parents, friends, and teachers of the academic award-winning women of Meredith College. As people fited into the auditorium, a prelude played by Cookie Kirk, a re-entry student, floated through the air. Then, as the Jones Chapel bell an nounced the 10 o’clock hour, people settled into their seats, and Dr. Jean Jackson took the podium. Jackson, Vice President tor Student Development, welcomed all of the guests and expressed her congratu lations for all of the day’s award receipients. She then introduced Me lissa Blackwood, MCA president, who led the ceremony’sinvocation.
