Halloween horror visits campus at the Noel House USAGIUIAM Stnfl(epo(tef Do people Tunning around with machetes and Smm masks sound like something that could happen at Meredith College? It did on Hallow- eeo night! There were many activities held all over campus lo celebrate Hallow een. The Noel House created a haunted house, witli a censored version for children and a scarier version for col lege students. The all-ages version was held earlio' in die evening and consisted of scares like spaghetti brains in the sink and severed legs hanging out of the shower. The adult version was held from 8:30 until 10:00 p.m. and was designed to representamovie that is a favorite of many botror film watchers—Scream . One room was made to make people think the haunted house was going to be about Margaret Noel, its founder, but three other rooms depicted scenes from Scre(2m withdae cbaracta with his ghoulish white mask. In bod) versions, die halls were filled with dry ice and strobe lights. Almost all of the residents of Noel House took part in the haunted house, including RA April Jones and RD Dena Price. “I hope everyone had a good time during the haunted house,” said Price. “It was a very 90s version of the tradi tional haunted house.” Before Noel House started win ning screams, (wo groups of children firom the Boys and Girls Club of Ra leigh, as well as children of the faculty and staff, trick-or-treated in the resi dence halls. The trick-or-treating was coordinated by Faircloth and Heilman residence balls and headed by Liz Dob bins. The students who participated in Stringfield, Canoll, and Noel pul pum[^ns on their doorknobs so the children would know to stop by their doors. Many students also dressed up to greet and scare the children as they came by. Fresliman Susan Jones was the hunchback of Notre Dame’s wife. Pricesaid she spotted someone dressed as a fortune teller. Faith Hart, tlie RD of Vann, felt very positiveabou t thechildren’s com ing door to door. “It was really nice to have kids come through the residence halls trick-or-treating,” she said. "It was a nice experience for freshmen to be able to have trick-or-treaters come to their new houses and make them feel more at home.” There was also a door decorating contest held on first floor Vann, which was judged by Dean Sharon Cannon, AUSONVAUNTI Jones Chapel came alive with music as tlie Meredith Center for Women io tlie Arts presented its fall concert on October 27th.
