none other than Tbad O’Bnant, direc
tor of camixis diniog. Since July of
1990,0’Briaot has been the director.
Witb this position, be supervises all
food services on campus, including
Belk Dining Hall, The Beehive in tbe
Cate Canter, and all catered events.
O’Btiant has lived in Raleigh all
his life. Like a dedicated resident, he
attended N.C. State. His major was
political science with a concentration
in criminal justice. After graduating,
bechanged bis mind and was unsure of
his career. He experimented with food
service at Camp Seagull for about a
year and half before deciding that it
was bis calling.
He went through training from
1986 to 1988 at Elon and woiied at
Elon College from 1988 to 1990 as tbe
campus dining assistaoL
O'Biiant gotmarried the same year
be came to Meredith. His wife Paula is
director of residence life here at
Meredith.
He says tbe fovorite part of bis job
is into^ting witb the smdents and
staff. He likes Meredith because he
"likes the college setting.” As director.
O'Briantalso plans tbecafetehamenus.
He takes suggestions from people on
his staff, and be is always looking for
suggestions from students, O'Briant
says that students have come up with
some really good items on tbe menu.
He also notes that be is always open to
suggestions, and he is always adding
new things.
O’Briant has many spedal events
and promotions planned in the upcom
ing months. Last wedc, be sponsored
tbe Milk promotion in which T-sbirts
reading “Milk Wh»e’syourmustache”
were given away, as well as S150 to
Kara Mallory whose name was chosen
from adrawing because she drinks milk.
This wed:, Snadc Padu containing all
kinds of special goodies were given
away at lunch. In the sfxing, there will
be a $750 putting-contest giveaway.
