February 25,1998 Meredith Herald Campus News Class presidents excited about future Leslie Maxwell Slall fleponer In addition to positions sucb as SGA President and MRA President, last week’s elections also decided class presidents for tbe rising senior, junior, and sophomore classes. Ginger Hudson was elected senior class president, Erin Grant was elected junior class president, and Meredith Bolton won tbe sopho more class position. Hudson, a current junior origi nally from Richmond, VA, is busy preparing for her role as president for die senior class. “We have a lot of great events going on,” she said. These events include Class Day, 99tb Night, tbe Class Gift, and the Class Doll. Hudson realizes that in the senior year of the class of 1999, schedules will get much busier. Hudson has been involved in class leadership roles since she was a first year. She was fresh man class president, sophomore class historian, and is currendy junior class president Erin Grant, a newcomer to class offices, will be the next president for the class of 2CXX). She has already been busily plan ning her Fole as junior class [H'es- ident. “We’re going to be imple menting changes,” she said. Grant hopes to have more class meetings. The junior class will be able to take care of class busi ness and also have time to dis cuss the things going on in their class and throughout the college. She also plans to develop a suggestion box in the Cate Center for the juniors to express their concerns or give comments. Tbe box will be checked once a week. A final idea that Grant is working on is a Junior Journal newsletter. It will come out every other week and will keep the class up-to-date on events and news from the juniors. Grant is “very, very excited” about next year and her role as junior class president, A sopho more from Greensboro, NC, she hopes to make next year wonder ful for the class of 2000. .Meredith Bolton, current freshman class president, is con tinuing that position by becom- ingnext year’s sophomore class president. Bolton plans to “work bard to promote class and school spirit, because these two things will form the basis for a wonder ful year.” Tlie Mother-Daughter Tea and the Father-Daughter Dance are only two of the events Bolton wil have to help plan next year. Like Hudson, Bolton recog nizes the need for participation from everyone in ihe class. “I encourage everyone in our class to work together to plan the events and participate in the events,” she said. Bolton says that with everyone working together, the class of 2001 will have a wonderful sophomore year. Bolton, a current freshman from Fayetteville, NC, is excited about her future role as Sophomore Class President. Publications Week is THIS w^ki Wednesday.
