Pour major changes around campus have kept construction crews and mainte nance worlcers bustling all summer. The Carlyle Campbell Library has had an interior facelift—an improvement that will improve the flow of services offered to Meredith students and faculty. All of the library services, such as Media Services, which used to be on the bottom floor, have been relocated to the main floor fw a more user-friendly library. Also, students will be thankful to know that a new computer lab has been added to the ground floor and will be in operation soon. Jones Auditorium has also undergone interior redecoration. Executive Vice President Charles Taylor said that there will be some changes you can see and some you can’t. Quite a few improvements were made in the auditorium’s electronics system which will improve both the sound and lighting of many of the productions and convocations held in the auditorium. A new chiller has been added behind Belk Dining Hall, which will increase the cooling capacity of the campus climate control systems. To improve the appearance and student- friendliness of the campus, the paved lot in front of Jc^nson Hall was replaced with a grassy lawn and a small paved loop with an attractive brick walk-up. Supplemental parking is available next to Jones Chapel, which also underwent paving improve ment this summer. Taylor summed up the projects. “We have a lot of little things that we have to do to keep up the campus,” he said, “but these were the major renovations.” Jones Auditorium and the circular drive in front of Johnson Hall were two of the areas that underwent renovations this summer. In addition, the library is get ting a dramatic lace-lift, while a power ful new chiller for campus air-condition- ing is being built behind the dining hall. Photo bv Stsve Wilson Computer stressed?
