MFA raises money for Interact The Meredith Fashion Association (MFA) had its first spagheHi dinner in Feb ruary. During that dinner, money was raised to be given to Interact’s Battered Women’s Shelter. Over $340 was collected from the dinner with approximately $200 given to the Shelter, Two representatives from the shelter were guests at the March meeting of MFA to receive the gift. The rest of the money will be used for activities within the organization, MFA would like to say thank you to everyone who came to sup port them with their fundraiser. MFA also recently elected their 1999-2000 officers who will be initiated on Apr. 22 at 4:30 p.m. in 112 Hunter, All current officers, officers-elect and mem bers are encouraged to attend. SGA sponsors afternoon faculty/staff challenge Last Wednesday, Apr. 7, the SGA sponsored a Faculty/Staff Spring Challenge. About 15 students and approximately six faculty came to play games and have fun at 5 p.m. in the counyard. Barbara True-Weber, politics professor; Carol Hazard, geography professor; Ann Gleason, director of academic advising; Chrissie Bumgardner, director of first-year experience; Lee Anna Keith, history professor and Carolyn Happer. his tory professor, were among the faculty in attendance. The participants held a relay and played games that involved hula hoops and whipped cream. They also listened to music. Shannon MacFarlane, SGA presi dent, helped to organize the event, Jennifer Ricks, SGA president-elect, said, “It was a lot of fun to get together and relieve stress.” She commented on seeing a different side of professors than students see in class. However, she was slightly disappointed in the turnout.
