Meredith College Fall Dance Calendar Guest Artist Residency with Gerri Houlihan Gerri Houlihan is respected for her choreographic work with Houlihan and Dancers and for her teaching at the American Dance Fes tival and New World School of the Arts. She is a JuHiard graduate and has danced professionally with the Metropolitan Opera Ballet and the Lar Lubocitch Dance Company. Houlihan will teach classes and set a work on Meredith Dance Theatre. Some rehearsals and classes will be open to the public. Meredith Dance Theatre in Concert November 16,17 at 8 p.m. November 18 at 2 p.m. This year’s annual performance by some of Meredith’s most tal ented dance students will feature the premier of new choreographic works from guest artist Gerri Houlihan and faculty member David Bea dle, Aperture by last year’s guest artist Doug Varone and the works of fresh new choreographers. This event will be held in Jones Auditorium. North Carolina Dance Festival Concerts January 18-20, 2001 at 8 p.m. Meredith is honored to host the North Carolina Dance Festival Concerts, a traveling celebration of North Carolina’s abundant choreo graphic talent. Each family’s story is told with irony and off beat humor in these inventive satires filled with wit and hilarity. Both productions will be entered in the American College Theatre Festival. Dates: September 26-30, 8 p.m. October 1, 2 p.m. Ms. Courageous by Joanna Halpert Kraus Young audience members (upper elementary through middle school) will enjoy this piece about two women with a passion for achievement: Elizabeth Blackwell, the first woman doctor with a medical degree and Marie Curie, who won two Nobel Prizes for her work in physics and chemistry.
