Features 7 ON THE ROAD: Pennsylvania music festival to be a highlight of summer □ Pile in the car and head up north for the summer’s best deal on a music festival. Lynda Marie Taurasi Music Columnist I bet some of you have no idea why Latrobe, PA is so spe cial; it is probably just another name to another town you have never visited. However, it does have one claim to fame: It is the home of Rolling Rock beer. Well, when the beer is paired with the town, you get the Rolling Rock Latrobe Town Fair, or to be more precise, Rolling Rock Town Fair “3.3.” ••an annual Pennsylvanian event that draws busloads of beer and music buffs to drink, eat and be merry. This year the event will be held July 27, and such bands as OutKast, Sevendust, Alien Ant Farm, P.O.D. and Godsmack will perform. For those of you who are not familiar with the bands, here are some of my favorites. Godsmack: Boston boys with ties to good o’ NC. (Sully, the lead singer, used to live in Fayet teville). They have received numerous awards (i.e., Bill board and a Grammy) for both of their multi-platinum albums and currently have penned songs like “1 Stand Alone" for The Scorpion King sound track. Outkast: Two-time Grammy award winners who have brought hip-hop to another, higher level by fusing it with hard rock, funk and soul. Derived from Hot-lanta, these boys have had every album (four albums since their 1994 debut) achieve platinum scatus- BLING BLING! Alien Ant Farm: I’ve met these guys, and they are true to their name ... alien! These Californians are strange individuals who broke the scene with their Michael Jack son cover, “Smooth Criminal." They were nominated in 2002 for a Best Hard Rock Perfor mance Grammy. I thought they would be a one-hit-wonder. They still could be, but they are definitely still worth seeing! Where else can you see such critically acclaimed musicians in one venue and all for less than S50 bucks. (Tickets are $48.00 and are available online at Ticketmaster.) Well, don’t take my word for it, check it out for yourself at WWW,rollingrock.com. And maybe I’ll see you there!
