8 CAMPUS FEATURES Nora Robert con tinued from page 7 plays. While in Cordina, Eve receives^any threats leading her to worry about Prince Alexander, her long time crush. When she takes a bullet for him, what will happen to her and the prince? Find out in Command Performance. In The Playboy Prince, the youngest son. His Royal Highness Prince Bennet, meets the most proper Lady of them all, Lady Hannah Rothchild. Despite being known as a "lady's man” and usually going after fancy females, he is attracted to this dull- looking woman. But she’s not whom she seems to be. Which side is she on? Bennet isn't sure, but he’s determined to stop any plans that might hurt his family. All three novels are packed with mystery and excitement. If you think all romance novels are junk, why not try Nora Roberts? Any of her books will show you that human relation ships and situations are just as important as the romance scenes that may be included. Try one out, and you may be surprised. New athletic director settles in LACY CUTHBERTSON Staff Writer Students should expect to see some changes around Weatherspoon Gymnasium this semester. Not only have there been improvements to the gym and building, but also a new staff member is also in place. Jackie Myers is Meredith’s new athletic director. Myers graduated from Elon College and received her master’s from East Tennessee State University. After working as a basket ball coach for 22 years and as an assistant athletic direc tor for eight years, she was happy to take the job at Meredith. Along with her A.D. responsibilities, Myers also teaches a few skills classes. When asked her thoughts on Meredith, she said, "Meredith is veiy different than what I'm used to. 1 like the focus on the women." Myers said she is working to improve funding for athlet ics. Dr. Hartford has asked for fmancial reports from the schools Meredith competes against, so she can insure that our teams have the funding to be competitive. Some of the long term changes that Myers is looking to make include joining Meredith in a conference. Currently the College is con sidered Division III, Independent. A few of the conferences Myers has looked at include the Dbcie Conference and the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC). "I think that being involved in a conference would offer our teams more chances for post season play" Myers said. She is also looking at adding cross country, track and field, lacrosse and golf to the list of sports offered at Meredith. But Myers said there aren’t any immediate changes to be made. "I think Dr. Chamblee did a great job and has started the process of a lot of things," she said. "Right now, my main con cern is being available to the coaches for questions, concerns and problems." Freedom of Speech Continued from page 5 It makes me wonder, what if he had said these things before 9/11? Would he have been booted then? Probably not. September 11th is not a joking matter. Threats against our nation should not be taken lightly, but are people beginning to see things that aren't there? Was the woman in Georgia really hearing a threat? What if the three men were really making negative comments against 9/11 ? Does that mean they deserved to be searched and questioned for hours? I am quite sure the fact that these men were obvi ously Muslim played a huge part in the woman's quickness to judge. If it were three white men, would they have their faces plastered across CNN? People are on such high alert these days that even the slightest comment seen as anti-American is taken out of context. Those who say that Americans have never experienced freedom of speech are fmally begin ning to witness the limits upon this "freedom." TtPAH gSlToS MH IJVv-M-Vb-VOMtt -TlMe IPOB ^rtowes...
