Send suggestions to Herald@meredith.edu Tennis cont. from Pg, 5 The A flight singles consisted of the number 1 & 2 players from all of the teams competing in the tournament. B flight con sisted of the 3 & 4 players and C flight consisted of the 5 through 8 players. Due to the lack of teams, the doubles was combined into one big draw consist ing of each team's 1*4 dou bles teams. The number 2 singles player for Meredith, Freshman Katie Weingarten, became sick and had to retire her match and finished 4th in the A Flight singles. Number 1 singles player. Junior Patty Phinney of Meredith fm- ished 5th in the A Flight singles. Meredith's ntunber 3 singles player. Sophomore Claudia Davis, was the B flight singles champion defeating Meredth's number 4 sin gles player, Sophomore Leigh Smith, in 3 sets. Meredith's number 6 sin gles player, Lee Ann Sanderlin, was the C flight singles champion defeating Meredith's number 5 sin gles player, Jennifer McKenzie. Meredith's number 1 doubles team of Junior Patty Phinney and Freshman Katie Weingarten were the doubles champi ons defeating Meredith's number 2 doubles team of Sophomores Leigh Smith and Lee Ann Sanderlin 8-4 in the final. The nimiber 2 doubles team had a great win over Sweet Briar's number 1 doubles team of Brentz Basten and Torrey Shallcross to make it to the finals.
