URP Issues a Call For Submissions TIFFANY ADAMS Editor in Chief Meredith’s Fourth Annual Undergraduate Research Conference will be held on April 22, 2004, a day designated for "Celebrating Student Achievement." Meredith's Undergraduate Research Program recently issued a call for submissions for posters, presenta tions and performances for this year's confer ence. The Research Conference showcases research, scholarship and creative activity in all fields of study. Presentations in the form of oral summaries, posters, performances and exhibits will be scheduled during the day. Submissions to the Conference will be reviewed for scholarly work that moves beyond what is already known and takes ideas in a new direction, scholarly work that exemplifies the methods for new discov ery or accomplishment in one's field of study, and whether the submission is a culminating presenta tion consistent with the scholarly or creative tra ditions of the discipline. According to the Research Conference website. Celebrating Student Achievement also honors accomplish ments that parallel research projects in their contributions to the life of Meredith College. In addition to the Undergraduate Research Conference, events throughout the day will feature stu dents' fulfillment of goals in all dimensions of learning. This will involve successes in fields as diverse as sport and music, leadership and professional prac tice, service and com munity involvements. The submission dead line for this year's con ference is March 3. The Undergraduate Research Program will send written notifica tion about program acceptance by March 19. PSi Chi to Host Holocaust Researcher at Spring Colloquium nPFANY ADAMS Editor in Chief Jerome Rosenberg, Ph.D., Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology and the New College Program at the University of Alabama will speak at the annual Spring Colloquium in Psychology tomorrow at 4 p.m. in 101 Ledford. The Colloquium is hosted by Meredith’s Chapter of Psi Chi, the national honorary society in psychology. Rosenberg's teaching and research interests include the Holocaust and other examples of Massive Human Destructiveness, Human and Humane Survival, Ethics and Social Issues, Prejudice and Social Movements and Interdisciplinary Models of Teachit^. At the Colloquium tomor row afternoon, Rosenberg will discuss how he became involved in Holocaust research. He will talk with students about his various trips to concentration camps and his work with Holocaust survivors and onHolocaust Commemorations. The presentation will fea ture the early role of psy chologists in Holocaust research and the current efforts in understanding genocide, perpetrators and generational aspects of Holocaust survival and trauma. In addition, his presentation will touch on the role of prejudice in the Holocaust and all geno cides. Finally, Rosenberg will provide suggestions for future involvement for psy chologists in Holocaust research. He is a charter member of the Association of Genocide Scholars. He has served as Chair of the Alabama Holocaust Advisory Council and is currently a member of the Alabama Holocaust Commission. Rosenberg has worked with Holocaust survivors, and he has served on the Hospice of West Alabama Ethical Review Board. Rosenberg currently teach es in the University of Alabama Thanatology Certificate Program and serves on its planning board. He has published on the issues of dehumaniza tion and the Holocaust. Rosenberg received his doctorate from Florida State University in Clinical Psychology.
