CAMPUS NEWS April 14,2005 Fashion Association assists with Seventeen fashion show JAYE MIZE Contributing Writer Last weekend Meredith’s Fashion Association took part in the Seventeen Maga zine Fashion Show held at Crabtree Valley Mali to show the Triangle new looks for spring. Seventeen Magazine tours throughout the United States creating fashion shows in order to promote not only the magazine, but also the products that keep America looking good. Stores such as Cache, Guess, Aim Taylor, Wet Seal and many more do nated clothes to turn heads in the Wild, Glam, Bohemian, and Yacht scenes modeled. Meredith’s Fashion Asso ciation was greatly involved with the whole process dur ing the weekend. On Thurs day, they helped organize the model call as hundreds of hopeful girls and guys strutted their stuff on the runway in their attempts to squeeze a spot in the fash ion show. The model call lasted about three hours but in the end Seventeen chose fourteen girls and four guys. The Fashion Association's work stopped there but for Fashion Department Head Dr. Diane Ellis, the fun had just began as she ran around fitting the guys for tuxes, collecting clothes from stores, and matching outfits to models. On Friday, mod els showed up at 4:00 p.m. for fittings, and Fashion Association members were personal dressers for the model fitting. Not only did students have to run around the exchanging sizes, but they were also fiilly respon sible in getting the mod els runway-ready and ap proved for the fashion show. Saturday was the big day. starting around 8:00 a.m. for the models as they were taught how to walk the right way and were told to “have fun!” Meredith's fashion students showed up around 12:00 p.m. and began getting the models ready for the main event. As excitement levels grew Meredith students put their best face forward and made sure that the models had the right look for the runway. The fashion show was a success as the products were greatly promoted, leav ing both Seventeen Maga zine and Meredith’s Fashion Association happy and con tent with a job well done.
