The quartet performed their debut concert recently in the Feldman Chamber Music Society Concert. Violinist Yun Zhang, violist Jennifer Snyder and cellist Rebecca Gilmore are members of the Virginia Symphony, which is ranked with the very best of the American orchestras. Violinist Yun Zhang was bom in China and began violin study at age three. He entered the Primary School of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music at age nine and completed its Middle School with highest honors. Zhang has performed as concertmaster and toured South Asia with the Asian Youth Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Sergiu Commissiona. He came to the United States in 1998 to further his musical studies at Indiana University where he was a member of the Festival Orchestra.
