These organiza tions allow students to serve as leaders and provide a fo rum for them to express their concerns and opinions. One of the most powerful student organizations on campus is Senate. Senate is the legislative branch of the Student Gov ernment Association. Its main purpose is to recom mend changes to the con stitutions and regulations of the Student Government Association. Senators also review present and proposed student organizational con stitutions and offer their in put on legislative and regu latory changes. Twenty-one members of the student body serve on Senate. There are three representatives from each class, two AMC repre sentatives, two WINGS rep resentatives, a secretary, a constitution clerk, a faculty advisor, a faculty representa tive, and the chair. The SGA Vice President serves as the Senate Chair. Senate posi tions are filled in the spring elections for sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Incom ing freshmen may apply in the fall. If all positions are not filled, the class president interviews candidates for the open positions. Lindsey DeLaFoss, who currently serves as Senate Chair, said, “I really love my position on Senate and am so excited about be ing on th^ SGA Executive Board this year. I am striv ing to work very hard for the student body and aim to go above and beyond my call of duty," DeLaFoss also notes that Senate is still in need of three freshmen senators. The members of Senate are all devoted to making Meredith a better place to be. They strive to make constructive changes at Meredith and look into issues diat students are concerned about. In a word. Senate is about service. For all ads, classitieds, and announcements, please submit to the herald@meredith.edu Please address to Natalie Braswell, Advertising Manager.
